Re: I was off my medications yesterday and this came to me..

Another thought, this old adage sums it all up here. "Necessity is the mother of all inventions."

Re: Waiting on the AC guy....

Most modern homes are not designed to be livable without AC. Buildings constructed in earlier eras were built with hot summers and cold winters in mind depending on the climate in the area. Back then I am sure there are some very hot parts of the country that they would never have built anything in...

Re: Waiting on the AC guy....

My ac unit is running fine. Getting to it is a pain, as it’s located up on the roof. Time to service it is the spring, as having it go out is a literal death sentence around here. Maricopa County finds dead every year where their ac units have failed-mostly poor elderly people. Our inside unit is u...

Re: Waiting on the AC guy....

Well $140.00 later, $125.00 for the service call and CINC Household saying give him a $15.00 tip, the AC is now fixed. The tip might be because of my threat if it got any hotter. Capacitor was failing. The portion which kick starts the fan which should read 5.0 or something like that was reading 0....

Re: New roof going on today

Down there I would take a page out of the middle ages and build with stone with walls five feet thick. The high water table probably precludes a dungeon, but you can't have everything. Jim, there ain't no damn stones around here; we would have to truck them from the North. Over where Mike is, there...

Re: Waiting on the AC guy....

What a coincidence. My A/C failed last night about 7:00 PM when the thermostat went blank and no way to control the unit. About 0800 this morning, I called the company who installed the unit and they showed up before noon to install a new thermostat. It will cost me $155 plus labor/service call but...

Waiting on the AC guy....

Wife was out most of the day yesterday and I played video games until 0200 this morning. I one point, around 2100, I looked at the weather clock in the living room and noticed the inside temperature was resding 75°. Hmm that can't be right, its been reading 69° all day. Turns out the damn fan on the...

Re: Ukranian civilian sales mosin

Learn something new everyday, did a internet search on them to learn more. It appears that they had the barrel shorten also, to prevent installation of the bayonet. They were modified for civilian sales in Ukraine, and for some reason a batch of them ended up being exported to North America (Canada ...

Re: Finally IDed what it is.....

Nothing wrong with having a spare sling. Good move to tag it; As I get older I appreciate having notes and documentation on things to remind me what I'm looking at. The Brain bucket doesn't retain things like it used to. Yeah, if I don't tag it with an ID, I'll find it again in 6 months and ...

Something to make you laugh.

My sent this to me, and said it reminded her of something i would've done. To be honest it reminds of a few people around here, just saying....!

Enjoy the read and the laughs, oh and the visuals I imagined were funny as hell!

You aren't kidding on all the extra steps they must do now. Glad yall got a good solid roof over your heads now.. The Hispanic crew that did our roof was the same way. Memorial Day 2024

As Americans go about their hard earned 3 day weekend, let's not forget the true meaning and price of Memorial Day. Over 646,596 American troops have died in battle and more than 539,000 have died from other, non-combat related causes, since the American Revolutionary War started in April 1775. That...

Finally IDed what it is.....

After looking myself stupid trying to figure out what the hell this is, somebody finally IDed it for me. It came with the M1917 Eddystone I bought some months back in 2023. I thought it was a carbine sling at first, but not. Then thought Eastern European, but not. Then thought maybe an equipment str...

Re: M1 Garand Review...........Post Your M1 Garands here!!!!

Back in 1991 I picked up a M1 Garand from the DCM for about $95.00 plus shipping. I've only fired about two 8 round clips through the rifle after I first received it. I haven't fired it since. There is a stamp on the barrel in the chamber area "S A 7-41". I most likely won't fire it again...
