Neat 54r cartridges

Post by Evil Eddy 1B »

I have acquired some cool old dome heads, AP, API, observation, tracers, factory dummies, and other cartridges that I failed to come across for a decent price. The AP, API and Observation have their primers crimped and are of correct time frame. Nothing like getting some good oldies to add to the cartridge collection.

That is cool. I would like to have about 50 rounds of AP.

Thanks y'all ! have had a good number of API but this is my first ap and observation. I will post pictures of fun times to the Mosin Nagant forum from my M-24 and first time target shooting it after many months of wondering if barrel shot as good as it looked. I'm happy with all the history that I'm learning and enjoying.

Very cool collection. I think sometimes I like ammo almost as much as the guns that shoot them.

So many variations . I really enjoy my Mil-surp firearms markings and variations. But in the same aspect the ammo that was made for each special purpose that could be encountered. To me it is really fascinating some that are marked with colored tips or primer annulus. Staked primers, crimped primers , primer sealers of meaning or just as a seal from the environment, tropical seal. Also the evolution from ball to observation explosive projectiles with a inertia firing pin insides projectile. Absolutely fascinating!

What year are the T-46M (7T2) tracers rounds?, I have some '88-dated Russian with bi-metallic cases like your's and also some Hungarian with grey steel cases.
2lm145l.jpg
Once I gave them a quick wipe they looked like new and tracer ignition rate has been 100% so far, same with the Hungarian stuff, but they need to be 80 - 100m out before they light up.

I currently have;

Russian T-46 tracer, T-46M tracer and standard light ball
Hungarian T-46M Tracer and silver-tipped LPS light ball
Chinese 148gr light ball, came from Albanian military stock via Czech Rep!.
Bulgarian 180gr heavy ball, wrapped in paper packets tied with string, '53-dated
Plus plenty of handloads.

Interesting info on Russian 54r rounds......

Snakperskaya yes the T46M tracer is 188/78 and in picture on right is 61/58. Funny thing on site u mentioned . I opened it proceeded to save to home screen and if I wanted to overwrite existing file . Good site I have enjoyed all the good info. I loaded some of my goodies on machine gun lebel clip and it works pretty well for display. Picture of cartridges of stripper clip is all from misr and UAR , Egypt.
Varying lengths of tip color's.
Question for you on your T46M Hungarian is the tip color even with Russian on length down bullet

Neat! Thanks for sharing.
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!
