A1 Rear Sight Aperture....?

Post by ffuries »

ALL the write ups and videos I see on installing the rear A1 style sights, say/show that when installing the rear sight, when you install and tighten the screw the aperture should end up in the center or close to it. Everytime I do it the aperture either stays on the right side or migrates all the way to the left side. I'm assuming that once adjustments are made the aperture will move to the center. BUT I don't want to secure everything if it won't center properly.

I've installed the flat spring, flip aperture and screw, haven't done the detent, detent spring and drum/wheel and the roll pin yet.

So will it center itself when adjusted and I'm just overthinking this? Or do I need to keep trying until it centers?

Changed out the A2 buttstock for the Type D and the A2 pistol grip for the A1 style. Once I figure out the rear sight, the back half of the rifle will be 100% complete.
