My first sniper rifle - a Czech vz.54

A few days ago I was lucky to have the opportunity to buy this one:

Rifle will arrive only next week, so at the moment I only have these low-quality pictures from the auction description. Looks on the pictures as if the numbers on the receiver and the scope mount are matching, but the crispness of the pictures is too low to be really certain.
Well, besides the vz.54 with scope, mount and accessories the whole deal also covers a brand-new Schmidt & Bender 10x42 scope together with a second scope mount. The Schmidt & Bender will be great on my Heckler & Koch MR308, and to have a spare scope mount is also not bad I guess, even if this mount seems to be no original vz.54 part.

You did good, the extra mount is worth a boat load since they are rare as hens teeth.

Now I have the rifle here in my hands. It is in very nice condition, albeit not all-matching. But it came with a vast arrangement of accessories, far more items than I have seen with any vz.54 so far. Now here some pictures of the rifle.

And some more:

Well, seems that the accessories should be quite complete. If there's still an item lacking, please let me know.

And now close-ups of all serial numbers - in contrast to other Mosin-Nagant variants the vz.54 is stamped "German way", i.e. nearly every part is numbered...

Yesterday I took the Vz.54 to the range for the first time. Regrettably the time available only allowed a few trial shots with the rifle as it is, no proper adjustment of the scope. I tried out two different sorts of ammo - Czech LB silver tip surplus from 1967 and Soviet "Extra" 200 gr match ammo, made in 1978 at Factory 188. At the moment rifle shoots about 2-3 inches to the right, with the 200 gr rounds additionally about the same distance too high at 100 m. Here the two targets I shot with those rounds (5 rounds each):

When I took the rifle apart for thorough cleaning, I recognized that the Czechs obviously stamped both barrel and receiver with a sort of "assembly number" instead of stamping the barrel also with the rifle's serial number, which is more common here in Europe.

That is a great setup. I like all of the "extras" as well.
