Had my FFL order this from classic. I was pretty nervous since I didn't get a hand select since they were out of them. I've seen some of the rifles that were supposedly hand selected and they were pretty terrible condition wise and they wanted 20-50 dollars more than I got this one for. The FFL I go through has gotten 2-3 others in for other people that were hand select and he said this one was probably the nicest besides the unissued hang tagged rifle he got for someone.
Just a 1941 VKT on a 1914 Izhevsk receiver. The bore is almost perfect, the stock looks unissued, and the metal is probably 75% blue left. The rifle is stamped "matching" numbers and has a mix of Izhevsk, Remington, Westing House, and Châtellerault for the bolt.
I don't buy Mosin Nagant very often but I am happy I took the risk.
Congrats, you did very well. I've never had much luck with Classic & after the earlier rounds of M39's from them I decided not to take anymore chances. Happy you got a good one though! Let us know how she shoots.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty stoked I got such a nice rifle. I'm gonna try shooting it in the morning and see what it does. I hope it likes the Bulgarian light ball.

See what it does? I predict a 99% probability that it will fire once the trigger is pulled with a live round in the chamber.

And hit where it is pointed.
It actually shot high and right at 50 yards! So I checked the front sight and the witness mark on the the sight and base were a bit off so I lined them back together and that fixed the problem. With the Bulgarian ammo it shot a group that could be covered by a 50 cent piece. I wasn't taking my time I was just shooting to check function but that isn't bad at all.
Again and again I had M39's on the range that shot as good or even better than my US M1903's. That they did this with whatever surplus commie ammo I happened to be shooting at the time made that accomplishment even more impressive.
