M27 Review...........Post Your m27's here!!!!
Re: M27 Review...........Post Your m27's here!!!!
Here is a group portrait of my M27s.
The top M27 is a 1928 Tikka.
It happens to be my favorite rifle in my Finn collection. Why? Well, I'm a sucker for walnut stocks and this M27 has one. It also has a front band that predates the popsicle stock version that is on my two later models.
I believe it is an early Russian walnut stock. It had been modified to accept the earliest of Russian trigger guards that had spots for a couple of fingers. When the Finns used it on this M28 they plugged the gap with a different colored wood.
The Finns had to hollow out Russian stocks further to accept the larger diameter M27 barrels. That hollowing combined with the fact that only one screw held the front barrel band in place led to the first major problem with the M27. In bayonet drills where the bayonet was twisted, the stock would break behind the front band. This stock has an arsenal repair behind the front band to fix the damage the drills did to this stock. You can't see the repair from the outside of the stock.
The second M28 is a 1934 Tikka.
The popsicle sticks on the front band were designed to solve the problem with the stock breaking under bayonet drill stress..
This rifle also has an interesting stock. This rifle was assembled at Finn armory AV3 under contract from AV2. They assembled M27s using nut wood (hickory) stocks. These stocks were obtained from Germany to help out with the lagging production of M-27s. The armory and stock number are stamped into the stock.
The third rifle is a 1932 VKT.
It is the only one of the three that has a Finnish ash stock. It is also in nearly perfect condition. It's bolt is Finn matched.
Let me know if you would like to see additional images af any of these three rifles.

Nice ones MadisonAV. I got a 28' also.
Re: M27 Review...........Post Your m27's here!!!!
I love the M27 rifles and have a few to share:
1932 Puolustuslaitos marked M27. I got this for a crisp Franklin in the first few minutes at a gun show in Richmond, VA in 2009. Best luck I've ever had (at that point)!
1940 M27. Found this one walking around at an Atlanta gun show for a very reasonable price. Mint condition.
1932 VKT M27. I wanted this and paid for it.
And...the pearl. 1929 Puolustuslaitos M27. Just luck chatting with a guy at a gun shop I visited regularly but never bought anything from. Guy said he rescued a Finn from a gun show bubba and it was missing a screw. I asked to see it and he brought it out. My jaw dropped. I worked with the guy for a couple of weeks and ended up with a very amiable trade. He likes M1 carbines, and I had to have this.

Great thread, really enjoy seeing all the M27's. The only ones I'm missing are :
PL marked M27 (looking at you Homer...)
1934 VKT (will never happen unless sparky wills it)
1935 VKT (maybe someday)
.22 cal trainer (I can dream, right?)
M27 sniper PH (see above)

Homer, there's an RV in there. Only issue is that it is in a modified M27 stock.
BB91 has a great collection, believe he is missing the 36 still. Sparky has them all, and he has the 34 VKT...

CAI import.....[span style='font-style: italic;']Another[/span] Roses Dept. Store Finn according to the seller.
1939 Tikka built on a 1897 Izhevsk receiver.
It has a Arms Depot 3 butt stock marking.
It has the "ski trooper" front sling swivel.
The receiver and bolt knob numbers match, all the rest were scrubbed.

Re: M27 Review...........Post Your m27's here!!!!
I'm seeing some very sharp rifles posted here.
Here's mine: built by AV1 in 1933 with a Tikkakoski Oy barrel on a 1904 Tula receiver. Pre-2000 Century Arms import mark on right of barrel. Has matching serial numbers on rib of bolt body and on correct winged bolt guide; these are the only numbered parts on the rifle. Still has the pre-war lacquer stock finish which is heavily worn; plugged hole in the rear of stock suggests that half is probably from an Austro-Hungarian-captured rifle. The modified Konovalov m/27 rear sight has the Finnish-made elevator with the "feet" around the sight base. It is [SA]-marked and D166-marked, but never fitted with the updated upper barrel band or wider lower band. There is a 5-digit number on the side of the receiver ring; purpose unknown.
