Welcome to the board, very nice set of Mosins :)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

So far I've only shot the t53. Been working to much and can't wait to shoot the m44. Between the two I only got $280 wrapped up with them. I started my military guns with a m9 and 1911. Now I'm starting with rifles.

Hey Dalefan, it is great to have you with us. I will be happy to do everything I can to encourage you (enabling) :P to buy more. Starting out with a couple of Mosin carbines is a good way to go.

I'm setting here thinking about my first one, a '46 Izhevsk M-44 with no import marks, trench art in Russian that translated to "My rifle", bayonet removed, good shooter. Why would I sell something like that? I made a hundred bucks......duh...... :bonk: ......Oh well, live and learn....Welcome to zee forum...I'm Alan and I'm a monagaholic.........SBP

Nice rifles! They kick like mules and throw a nice fireball just before its dark, it's quite lovely.

Got to shoot the m44 today. All I can say is I like shooting both of them. I took the stock off the type 53 cause someone did a bad stain job on it. Think I'm going to use a dark stain.

That bad stain Job as you call it, may just be the way the Chinese did it. We don't care much for cutting, sanding or staining on this forum. By staining it you not only destroy the history in it but the value as well.

No the guy I got it from said his boy thought it was cool to stain it. It was all over the barrel and all the metal parts. It looked like crap. I'm not touching the m44.
