Hey all,

Just got my Type 53 chicom. It's a 1955.

A bit rougher than I was hoping for, but am glad to have it to add to the collection. I guess I'll just have to be on the hunt for something in better condition to replace this one, one day. :shifty:

Completely untouched, straight out of the box. This was from ClassicArms.us. It was a hand pick. I'm thinking of steel wooling the little rust I see on the bolt, and then wiping down the stock with some Ballistol to help get some of the color and keep it preserved a bit. What do you guys think?

Enjoy :pop:

Yeah, i'm not too happy with it. I was definitely thinking I'd get something a tad bit better. It is what it is though and I'm happy to have one in the collection.

Hey Dou, I'm dansammo.us, not affiliated with dansammo.com. I actually got the red letter Izhevsk from Dansammo.com but it looks like it was one of the last of his crate.

Thanks all for the kind words.

Haha, they sure do have some oddball stuff on their site. Most likely the one and only C&R's I'll purchase from them. Wasn't too happy with the communication nor "hand pick" in this case.

Nice Dan, I told you it would be rough. They all are to a certain degree. The Chinese don't put a lot of stock into preserving them. Reguardless nice looking rifles. The bores look good on both and I'll be willing to bet that T-53 shoots way better than it looks. It seems to go that way. Some of the sadest looking Mosins are the best shooters. I know I've seen a few guys on here say that about ones they have.
