Re: Dan's Mosin Thread
Hey all,
Just got my Type 53 chicom. It's a 1955.
A bit rougher than I was hoping for, but am glad to have it to add to the collection. I guess I'll just have to be on the hunt for something in better condition to replace this one, one day.
Completely untouched, straight out of the box. This was from ClassicArms.us. It was a hand pick. I'm thinking of steel wooling the little rust I see on the bolt, and then wiping down the stock with some Ballistol to help get some of the color and keep it preserved a bit. What do you guys think?
Enjoy

Yeah, i'm not too happy with it. I was definitely thinking I'd get something a tad bit better. It is what it is though and I'm happy to have one in the collection.TheZombieKilla wrote:That was hand pick? I'd hate to see the worst of them.
Hey Dou, I'm dansammo.us, not affiliated with dansammo.com. I actually got the red letter Izhevsk from Dansammo.com but it looks like it was one of the last of his crate.dou44 wrote:dan are you going to be selling more 91/30's ? i thought i saw some on your site not to long ago. if so i need to send you a copy of my c&r.
Thanks all for the kind words.

Re: Dan's Mosin Thread
I do like the 91/30 though & that T53 should clean up well.

Haha, they sure do have some oddball stuff on their site. Most likely the one and only C&R's I'll purchase from them. Wasn't too happy with the communication nor "hand pick" in this case.Rongoman wrote:That was a handpick from CA... The chrome specialists.TheZombieKilla wrote:That was hand pick? I thought it looked not to bad Dan. It will clean up nice. I still need one of these to finish my M44s

Re: Dan's Mosin Thread
Nice Dan, I told you it would be rough. They all are to a certain degree. The Chinese don't put a lot of stock into preserving them. Reguardless nice looking rifles. The bores look good on both and I'll be willing to bet that T-53 shoots way better than it looks. It seems to go that way. Some of the sadest looking Mosins are the best shooters. I know I've seen a few guys on here say that about ones they have.
