Going into the heavy construction business
Going into the heavy construction business
I enjoy farting around in my humble wood shop. I am not a good carpenter, but I am enthusiastic about it. I want to make a pile of wooden toys to donate at Christmas. There are still parents and children in search of handmade toys. I am going to keep them simple, although it is a constant temptation to add one more detail. The material cost are low and the work is fun. I can put my brain in neutral and as long as I avoid rotating blades I have a good time. This is a prototype made from various scraps discarded from other projects. It is the second iteration of the theme, but I think that I can go with this one. I see trucks, planes and boats in my future. This motor grader is about a foot long. ;)

Cool, I don't remember having any heavy construction toys as a kid, but I made up for it by playing with the real things later in life.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

That's a cool looking dozer. Can you make a motor grader ? If you try that out in your driveway, you know the guys in white coats will show don't you ? My crystal ball sees a steel wheel roller, a Cat D8, a pay hauler, an extended reach excavator with working boom, What else Sonny ? Give Steve a picture of some equipment to go by.

The Michigan is my heavy snow mover, the Nasco forklift has helped process thousands of cars, and hundreds of cords of wood.

I'm envisioning an attachment for the fork lift boom that makes it into a wood splitter We used the side shift on a motor grader to split big blocks of pine on the bottom corner of the blade.

I gotta tell you, I'm absolutely digging your passion for handmade toys. Brings back memories of good ol' days, doesn't it? I mean, who doesn't love these charming little crafts?
I was once in your shoes, buddy. Started making toys just for kicks, but then, boom! I saw not just toy trucks or boats, but real opportunities in those little scraps. Turned my pastime into a full-on small biz.
If anyone's thinking about doing the same, there's this awesome blog I stumbled upon when I was setting up my LLC. Totally helped me navigate the rough waters. If you wanna check it out, just click here for info.
