RC K98 - 1943
RC K98 - 1943
It's been a while since this K98k has been out of the safe and I thought you guys would appreciate seeing some photos of this beautiful rifle. This is a 1943 bcd Russian Captured rifle. When I purchased this rifle it was everything I was looking for in a RC - the red shellac stock, dark bluing, etc. I know back in the day when RC rifles were inexpensive a lot of people removed the shellac and refinished the stocks, that's something I never plan on doing. The more people that messed with RC rifles the less examples there are of a Soviet refurb in its original look. I want to preserve the RC look.

Nice looking rifle! The Russian refurb is all part of the history of these and should be preserved.

Thank you! I agree, it's part of the rifle's history and should stay as is.irish132nd wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 2:45 pm Nice looking rifle! The Russian refurb is all part of the history of these and should be preserved.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I was a Knob Creek Range one day and they had about 4 of those for 300. I had passed on a M44 for 75 the day before, and thought that they were way too high. Apparently I have no vision.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

What's interesting is that in the future people will be saying, "Ah back in the good old days I could get a Mosin for $400" Lol.

That's a nice-looking Russkie capture. How's it shoot?
I never have gotten used to that shiny shellac! It's made for use, tho and I'll never sand and refinish mine either. Ive got one '43 that my dad brought home and Im glad it was left in all original shape, with bayo and "Prince Edward Can" cleaning kit with original grease and patches..

I use to have about 20 or so versions of the K98k. One of my favorites was an Israeli K98k. It was in 7.62 NATO. I loved it for the irony... When I was stationed in West Germany, it was Germany when I left, I got to shoot with the German Wacht Batallion - their honor guard. They carried K98k's (G-1s) in 7.62. I shot the G-1, MG-3, and P-1. All modern versions of the K98k, MG-42, and the P-38. I loved it!!!!

Wish I'd kept my Izzie 98k 7.62x51. It was originally a Czech (Brun) Mauser as I recall. A real keeper.
