Type 99 Arisaka Cleaning Rod?

I have a Nagoya Arsenal Type 99 Arisaka (Series 7, 1944), needing a cleaning rod. I know it takes the short cleaning rod, the 4 7/8 inch one.

I've read some where on the internet a few years back (2015) and had made a hand written note on my paperwork that the short Nagoya cleaning rod has a diameter of a 1/4 inch, while other manufacturers the short cleaning rod had a diameter of 3/16 of an inch. Meaning they aren't interchangeable.

Any truth to this or is this just an internet myth?
