Had a Bit of a Luck Streak

Post by capt14k »

Joined a raffle group on MeWe based on the Powerball. Won a couple small items like M57 Tok, Ruby, and M1905 Bayonet, but nothing major. Lost a decent amount. Then one night my number came in that I had on 6 of 7 games. Then again the next drawing on 2 games, and again on 2 games, and again on one. All total 10 wins in a month.

I sold some before even receiving such as M1 Garand, M91 B Barrel, M24 Bohler, and Remington 541X. Also kept some which are pcitured below.

Finn Matching 1943 M91 Tikka that Bubba ruined the stock, but I found 7 M91 Stocks so that can be fixed

Matching Siamese Mauser 45/66

Matching No4 MkI Fazerkley 1948 South African Contract

Matching M96 SA Marked

Matching K31 Walnut Stock

Also got a case of Swiss GP11 and a crate of Yugo 7.62x54r

However the luckiest find was in a Texas Pawn Shop an All Matching 1942 bcd/ar duel code K98k. Cost a fraction of what it is worth and doesn't look like it was touched for years.

That is one hell of a streak! Nicely done. I keep saying I will take the raffle plunge and keep getting busy and distracted. Time to get serious!

We have a pretty good group on Mewe called Milsurp Waffles. There are a few good items up right now. Saturday night nearly cleared the board. 8 games went off. Guy I sold B Barrel to cheap returned the favor and sold me the matching 1909 Argentine he won for the same price.

Siamese is actually one of my favorites. Even though I have no ammo for it. Need to find some. Also have no clue what the markings mean but they look cool and condition is much better than I usually see.

The characters on the receiver bridge are the serial number, they read as "00310". The two digits behind the trigger guard read as "60". The Thai characters below the Chakra wheel read as "RS121", meaning year 121 of the "Rattanakosin Sok" ("Rattanakosin era"), i.e. the period from April 1st, 1902 to March 31st, 1903. All information approved by my wife, a native Thai. The year 1902 is year 2445, 1903 accordingly 2446, in the Buddhist calendar, also used in Thailand still today, thus the designations "Type 45" and "Type 46" for the ammunition and the rifle.

Thank you. Are there any numbers that should match that you know of?

Regrettably so far I didn‘t have the opportunity to inspect such a rifle in detail, so I don‘t know anything about numbered parts.

BTW - the name "Rattanakosin" comes from an area in the historic heart of Bangkok, originally an island surrounded by the Chao Phraya river to the west and a khlong (canal) to the east, which were the beginnings of Bangkok (in Thai: Krung Thep Maha Nakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Yutthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udom Ratchaniwet Maha Sathan Amon Phiman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit - or usually abbreviated as Krung Thep) as the new Thai capital in the late 18th century (also the starting date of the Rattakosin era), after their old capital Ayutthaya (about 50 miles north of Bangkok) had been destroyed by the Burmese.

Wow, you did have quite a streak. And those that you sold sound good, but I can tell you are only interested in all the numbers matching.
That MEWE group is milsurp waffles? Could you have meant milsurp raffles? :)

Thank you, and you are correct about numbers matching items only for me. It was the only way for me to cutback on my buying and reduce the size of my collection. I sold off a Brazilian 954 last night because the bolt was one number off. It bothered me too much to think someone simply put the closest matching bolt in the rifle that they could find.

The group is Milsurp Waffles. Not really sure why Waffles is used in place of Raffles. In all honesty we borrowed the use of Waffles from the TR raffle groups on Facebook that all use Waffles in their name.

I want to look at it. Can you tell us more about how it works? I have been inactive on MeWe since 2017 but Facebook annoys the heck out of me like most everyone else. I can't believe that group photo. So nice and all in one month! I'm not sure I could have let the Garand and Remington target rifle go.

I don't collect American Rifles just the Bayonets and Knives and I have a Garand, plus I needed the funds lol.

There is the link. Currently there is a M28 Hackman full rig meaning with green painted scababrd and frog. Also I have a M91 1943 Tikka Matching but stock is refinished IMO however price reflects stock.

I want you to join my group on MeWe https://mewe.com/join/milsurplotteryfutofacebookgroup

Here is something someone else put together explaining How it works. Our group is not for profit and number drawn for main game is after it fills and is paid in full the next Powerball drawing. First whiteball for 1-69 game is the winner. Redball is winner of 1-26 game. We had one of each game types last night. Minis the number is chosen by Random.org and recorded. Part of the recording is posting on MeWe so time stamps can be matched up and there is no funny business. Not that we have anyone that would pull anything like that.
