1942 XO-48

So a nothing special refurb. Needed a '42 for the family and this one had the XO-48 mark so why not. It actually has marks all over it. Been through a few refurbs I'm thinking.

As long as you're not talking to the radiators in your house, putting mustard on your chicken parm, or exposing yourself to the mailman your'e probably fine. I gotta tell ya Bill. I'd be the happiest guy on the planet to make that same post you just made above 17 years from now. Live Long and keep b...

Re: Strange scoring on the barrel of an M38

I can see remnants of another date under the 1939. I'm guessing the putting obliterated the original date and they guessed 1939. Lol. That actually isn't too uncommon. Yes....and how lucky its the first year for M38's :bwink: Heres a little pictorial for comparison. Your date is the one in yellow b...

Re: Strange scoring on the barrel of an M38

Sure looks like the marks that you see when a bayonet lug is ground off. I'll wait to see what other say. The marking just before the 'cut' line is very similar to the marking on my 91/38. Clearly this isnt a 91/38 front sight though. What year is on the barrel? That isnt a M38 front sight? Looks j...

(p.s. Our mutual C&R seller had a VKT M39 for sale at the Saratoga show last weekend. Decent looking except for the cracked stock and $500 price tag. I passed.) Yeah I dont blame you.Five hundred clams buys a better candidate then that. I think maybe he has sold the good stuff he had...This old...

Re: "41" marked 1922 (Overstamped 1921) Izhevsk M/91 Dragoon

Wow that one rings a few bells doesnt it! The stock is awesome. Add the '22 and the overstamp and the 41 mark and the sling hangers and you got one heck of a nice rifle there sir! IMHO the Balkin wedge and the scrub just add more to the story. Nice one! Almost a sin to put that in the safe. That sto...

Re: T53 value?

The price of T-53s have changed so rapidly that it is hard to tell. I would think, and I may be dead wrong, that a good price for a rifle like yours would be $200.00. $250.00 would be fair and $300.00 would be overpriced. +1 If you are in an area like I am where there aren't many gun shops or shows...

Re: Fake reproduction parts

Kind of a mixed blessing the Motion Picture Industry. Yea it sure as heck brings out the repro stuff, but also what did 'Enemy of the Gates' do to the price of a 91/30 sniper... ..great if you were sellin.

'36 Warhorse

So I know this one wont impress a good many of you fellas but it just called out to me. Its got all the features of an SCW, no pin in rear sight, no import mark, blade front sight, and USSR stamp. The barrel and buttplate serials match but thats all. When I got it it looked like someone took it out ...
