Re: K31 Rear Sight Leaf
This is the leading seller for Swiss K31 rifles and spare parts here in Germany. A rear sight parts set is at 32 euros, shipping should be another 5-10 euros to the US for such a small part (in case of a group buy the international shipping might become even less expensive per unit), so it is roughl...

Re: Swiss K-31
The Swiss look at these rifles as tools, and as JYD stated; They have better tools today & wouldn't be interested in receiving this back. Keep it & enjoy it. That's true. I'm living only about 100 km away from the Swiss border, so a visit there to look and see what the arms dealers there ar...

Re: Need advice on buying an finnish m39
I once tried to buy a rifle (one of these rare M27rv carbines) from a Finnish gentleman. While the price for the rifle itself was quite reasonable, the shipping costs did kill the deal in the end. In Finland firearms can't be sent by mail, leaving only personal pick-up or sending by air freight (ext...

Re: Need advice on buying an finnish m39
Prices for M39s are much lower in the US than here in Europe - probably because the largest part of them has been exported to the US. A really nice M39 here in Germany will start at about 450-500 euros, with rarer variants like Sk.Y, late date no maker, etc. easily touching or exceeding the 900-1,00...

Re: Strippers From Finland???
So the question I have is this.....Can the Chinese copies be modified/adapted to work? If so what is the fix? Well, seems as if there are distinct differences with the Chinese copies concerning their functionality. My score or so Chinese-made clips are working more or less as smooth as original ones.

As promised, here a few more pictures, this time taken by myself (well, both my camera and my photographing skills by far aren't up to the level of those of the rifle's seller): M1891-30_001.jpg M1891-30_002.jpg M1891-30_003.jpg M1891-30_004.jpg M1891-30_005.jpg M1891-30_006.jpg M1891-30_007.jpg M18...

Here a detail picture clearly showing the most prominent distinguishing feature (encircled parts) between an original Finnish Tikkakoski clip (to the left) and a Chinese copy (to the right):

Re: My newest acquisition - Izhevsk-made M1891/30 with folding bayonet
Thanks. But I'm sitting in Germany, not in Canada. My rifle came directly from the Ukrainian arsenal, via an Austrian seller who had picked five of them there.neal45 wrote:Very nice example. You must have been in the right place (Canada?) at the right time to grab this beauty.
Congratulations.

My newest acquisition - Izhevsk-made M1891/30 with folding bayonet
A few weeks ago I got the opportunity to acquire a pretty rare bird - an Izhevsk-made M1891/30 equipped with a folding bayonet. This type of rifle was all but unknown in the available publications so far and only recently documented in a newly-published book written by an Ukrainian author. According...

Re: Gunbroker fraud turd alert.
I'm not surprised to read Polish names. On several auction platforms here in Germany there are frequently offered all kind of faked WaA or other stamping tools - and the sellers invariably sit in Poland. Of course no general bashing of Polish people intended with this statement - I'm convinced that ...

Re: 1935 Brazilian Mauser Short
Both the Standard Model Short Rifle and the Standard Model Carbine of 1933 listed in Robert Ball's book have identical dimensions to the K98k. Only difference between these two Standard Models recognizable to me is that the carbine has the butt stock sling recess of the K98k, which the short rifle i...

Re: 1935 Brazilian Mauser Short
The Brazilian M1935 SR is with a barrel length of 21.5" and an overall length of 42.0" a little bit shorter than the K98k (23.62" and 43.60" respectively). Additionally, the front sight has protective "ears", which are on the K98k only found with the Portuguese contract...

Re: 1888 Spandau 71/84 Mauser
A beautiful rifle. I think with the Commission 88s coming out these rifles likely saw very little use. Only time Ive heard of the 71/84s saw combat was by German sailors during the Boxer Rebellion. A lot of the M71s and M71/84s were also used to good effect in the German colonies, even during WWI. ...

Re: Finally - found a really nice Brazilian M1935 short rifle
Thanks, gentlemen.
Forgot to mention - this rifle even came with a complete set of replacement furniture (including some of the metal parts). It's an original Mauser-made stock and handguard, but restamped matching by the Brazilians:
