Re: dribs and drabs....the mosin comeback

Classic's Tula hex's went first, then the Tula rounds. Looks like just Izhevsk's left. Im sure the hex's will go first. Little bit harder of a sell on the Izhevsk rounds I would imagine. Especially sight unseen. Cant tell if there are any of the wacky markings we all love... :) :2cents:

Re: Newbie and thinking about buying a Mosin!

I paid more for my M44 than that but stopped regretting it the instant I shot it. Nothing like 3 foot fireballs!! It is far and away my favorite shooter. Im relatively new to the sport of collecting mosins...and I have 8! Any of those choices would have been ok. Now that your LGS is out of them I'll...

Re: dribs and drabs....the mosin comeback

If the unrest ends 'over there' the bottom might just drop out of the mosin market. I'm trying not to buy too many at these prices....but will they go higher?...why oh why didnt i get addicted to collecting used toilet paper rolls...no market there! When I bought this Tula there was a kid there at t...

Re: dribs and drabs....the mosin comeback

Finally got a chance to shoot the old laminate. Here's what It'll do at 100 yards. Even though I cleaned it for hours after 30 rounds the cosmoline was still oozing out of it. Getting kinda slippery toward the end so I wiped it down and called it a day. The five up top were the first five to spot wh...

I shot the M44 today at 200 yards. Heres what it looks like. Not too shabby for an M44.

Re: What are chances of this happening?

...yes get a sight tool. I said enough is enough one day at the range and drove my sight over with a punch and hammer. Not the finesse way but probably the way I would have done it knee deep in russian mud with the K98 bullets flying over my head... :?

I've got one of those too. They work great. But yeah, not on the same bench as the shooting happens from...otherwise you spend half your time fiddling with it. :bwink:

Re: Sighting in mosing 1944 carbine but have concerns

My M44 was terrible. I wasnt allowed to shoot it at my gun club with the bayonet on so I had to adjust the front sight. Heres my M44 front sight now. Below is how it shoots at 25 yards. M44frontsight.jpg Wintershoot.jpg Heres 50 yards. I havent tried it further than that. Dont worry how the front si...

Re: Detective work figuring out this m38's history in 4 pict

I was just looking around trying to find some info on Albanian M38's. I wasnt able to find any references at all. Im a newbie here. What is leading you toward Albanian? I have an untrained eye so I apologize. The only thing I see unusual is the sling. Are there markings that indicate Albanian? thanks!

Re: royal tiger imports snipers

I have been watching the site (RTI) for a couple of weeks now and the numbers dont seem to be dropping. Is it because of the price or the quality? When it was posted here I thought they would start to move. But nothing.

Re: new member

Welcome welcome! My first was a 1929 hex Izhevsk ex-dragoon I bought sight unseen from Gander Mountain. I got it home and went to the reference sites and just started researching and researching...if you'll find out one thing with mosins its, in the words of a smart fella I met here..."the more...

Re: M38 purchase.

If I could I would put it back in an M38 stock but they are hard to find. Im surprised that the numbers were wiped off. The floorplate looks like it never had a number. There is a '1' visible on the buttplate. The bolt also looks like it never had numbers. It is still pretty thick in the area where ...

M38 purchase.

I got this today. I bought it sight unseen. Im not really thrilled with what it looks like. The numbers are scrubbed on the bolt, buttplate, and magazine floorplate. The stock is too nice. It's just too nice looking all around for my liking. What do you guys think? m38.13.jpg m38.12.jpg m38.10.jpg m...
