Is Help available

I have been asked by the local Marine Corp Vets to shoot some digital images 5 shots, of five wars with authentic stuff. The local guys are hosting the state wide MC event in June and I wonder if anyone knows any collectors in the Cen Tex area that would help me put together some militaria for the p...

Re: ZASTAVA M88A COMPACT or STAR BM

I bought an M88A because I liked my Romanian t33. The pistol was a plinker plus and was well made up until the plug that secured the recoil spring left on its second outing. I am now getting ready for a warranty improvement by Century Arms. By the way the hammer nips at the web of my hand when firin...

Large red dots

My previous thoughts that red dots with a small moa were what you needed for hair splitting. New thought: Why not use a12 o'clock hold on top of the dot. Too soon old to late smart.

Re: Dad's old gun

Every family firearm that I would have treasured has evaded me, except the Rem 521t I learned to shoot on, learned how to refinish a stock on, and eventually traded off as a fledgling gun trader. My old man had a 45 1911 A1 he carried through the battle of the bulge and the hospital on his way out. ...

Re: RUGER '45 black powder OLD ARMY

I just put an Old Army ss back online after going through a fire. It took more than 6 months to get it apart. Wondered if I would ever get the hand spring and nub out of its blind hole but once I got a replacement handspring I put a drill bit that fit the hole and the plug on the end popped out. Put...

My VKT had coarse sand in the action. I shot it for a number of years with out a hitch, I thought the sand didn't give the previous owner a good outcome, There was more than a tablespoon full of grit. Jim do you know the source of the sand?

Re: was I wrong?

I have a Norinco 22 semiauto Browning clone. /Browning copy and Norinco was told to seece and desist and Sarco sold the left overs. This rifle is wonderfully accurate and take down to boot. Also had a Norinco cheap bolt 22 that was more than worth the money but probably the sks was not worth a tumbl...

There definitely was no romance connected to the Norinco and I bought it strictly as a shooter so I guess time decided no regrets...

was I wrong?

I bought a Norinco new SKS in the old days for $67 and shot the Rumanian hollow points in it. It was a nice enough firearm but I never felt its accuracy was much better than hard ball sized groups at 25 yards. Years later when a guy offered me $275 for it I said buy bye. :vconfused:

Re: Ruger Blackhawk 45 Colt/45acp

The deal was a three for one trade, a new Mark I, a security six stainless 4 in and a new sup Blkhwk. What's not to like? The old sbh had a deep cherry red frame that noting could replace. I never did bond with the new SBH. I cut it down to 5 inch and never was special. It burned up and I never repl...

Ruger Blackhawk 45 Colt/45acp

I bought my first 45 acp Colt Gold Cup in 1962 125th Colt anniversary. I worked an entire year with the Lunch Ladys at High School to do it. I wanted to be a good bullseye shooter back then. I was never really great. Got my first Super Blackhawk couple years later when they had just discontinued the...

Very interesting jyd. I don't quite see the implications except maybe the sale of the pistol cylinder installed. Is there something else?

Howell cylinder

I bought this Pietta 1858 from Cabella's a couple years ago and never shot it. I decided to get a Howell cylinder in 45 Colt to motivate me to shoot it. 45 Colt is a light year ahead of a cap and round ball load and it is easier to clean. By the time the deed was done I was down almost 3 Benjamins a...

Texas is amazing, what's next? 23 inches in 48 hours, good thing I am at the highest point in the county, down river it will crest 49 feet above normal.
