Re: Bluing is a form of protection correct?

Ok Ok stop the personal recriminations, I figured it was probably the lime juice, but it happened quickly and completely. I suppose battery acid could be similarly affective. You see firearms that have sat on something corrosive over the years reflected by bluing discoloration patch on a more or les...

Bluing is a form of protection correct?

When I clean guns the parts surround my lazyboy as well as not. Cleaning done and mostly picked up I fetched a Bloody Mary with lime juice back to the chair and tripped over the cat. Not a major mess but one quarter inch spot landed n the Ruger 45 Blackhawk Convertible bbl. and I didn't wipe it righ...

Re: Beat Up Mosin's Now Going For $469.95 !!

Back when I bought my first Mosin (58?) I had no idea where to get ammo. I f I could have shot it that would make the bond. What would a spam can have cost in 58? I was not sure it was even safe to shoot but I didn't know crap then anyway. I know crap now.

Re: How did you start your collection?

My collecting started in 1958 first with a Spanish Mosin for $12 that I dragged down the street to 7th grade in So Cal for show and tell Now a days a swat team would be called out and my collecting would have ended for ever, good riddance, then I bought a Rem rolling block 7mm for $14 and an Aussie ...

My best Swede is needy

I bought this on gunbroker and had to pay for it twice but got a refund later. I have $468 in it. It is one of the shooting club models, sold to gun club members at cost with the condition that it be returned probably in person if a national emergency arose. It is not import marked, has about 95%blu...

Hitler's solid gold gun

I mentioned awhile ago working for a gun dealer in Cleveland who bought the firearm, not solid gold as Argosy claimed. I got curious and researched it this some of what's out there. He told me he donated it to a museum in Israel but that wasn't true. It sold at auction for $114K a record at the time...

The eyes have it

Here is a cautionary tale. First of all I am left eye dominant and right handed. My left eye was much stronger and clearer than my right. So much so that I started and got accustomed to shooting left handed. Then one day my left eye was screwed, The color was way off and clarity sucked. I needed new...

Re: CMP Phillipine M1 partII

Back from the range and alls well First 2 shots were at the center at 25 yards,then1 oclock, 11 oclock and 7 oclock. About the dark stain on the wood I found that rubbing alcohol cuts it right away and doesn't mess with what ever finish is underneath

CMP Phillipine M1 partII

I said the new M1 was rough I meant the stock had a lot of rubs and dings, actually the metal has no rust except on the upper handguard, ass stated before the throat is +3 and the muzzle is +2. I guess it was made in late 52 If anyone knows a more accurate date please inform me. I assume that the pi...
