Re: Bumper cars..
I finally heard back from the insurance adjuster this past week. Progressive and USAA went to binding arbitration and the arbitrator found the other two drivers to both be 50 percent at fault. So now we’re finally getting to the point of getting the truck to the shop and figuring out if it is repair...

Re: More Railroad Watches
Just got this watch back from the watchmaker today. I’ll be wearing it to Easter services tomorrow. https://i.imgur.com/DGvRJMP.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/BdiDnnw.jpeg This is a Hamilton Grade 937 made in 1898 for Mr. H. V. Taylor of Waterloo, Iowa. It was a railroad approved watch at the time and Mr....

Re: More Railroad Watches
They did some very nice work on these timepieces, attention paid to even the parts not often seen. A mechanical watch of this quality today would be what? Ten grand?  :vcool: That’s probably not far off the mark. Vortic Watch Company is converting old pocket watches to wrist wa...

Some more items: https://i.imgur.com/fjXXRBv.jpeg Two private label Hamilton railroad watches and a dial for a Hamilton railroad watch. The watch on the left is a hunting case Grade 937 made for H. Watch dials
I’ve been buying spare dials for my railroad pocket watch collection. I try to buy only mint condition dials, unless I come across an example that is rare. These dials are stored so that in the event I acquire a watch that has a dial in poor condition or missing the dial, I can restore the watch. ht...

Re: Bumper cars..
Insurance companies are still in subrogation. Per instructions from the attorney, I’ve also filed a claim against the other drivers insurance policy. So now I have a claim with USAA and Progressive. It may be a few months before this gets resolved. The company that ends up paying the claim will be p...

Re: Made in Russia; Recycled in Ukraine
I’ve thought about getting one too. Anything to help the Ukrainians to stick it to Putin. One of my coworkers at work was complaining about us funding the Ukrainian war versus putting America first, even if it costs us an ally. One-you don’t abandon an ally, especially in their time of greatest need...

Re: Made in Russia; Recycled in Ukraine
Apparently the Russian army is hurting so bad for tanks that they are reactivating some real Cold War relics. Germany is delivering the first of the Leopard tanks promised to Ukraine with other munitions and the weapons promised by the other European countries should be following shortly. I think th...

Re: Health Update and a PSA!
That doesn't look good. I've been fortunate that I've never had an issue with my psychiatrist or other docs not renewing my prescriptions in time. Only time I've ever had a prescription crisis was years ago when I somehow forgot to pack my meds on a trip. Called the doctor's office and they had the ...

Re: Bumper cars..
I know. So now I get to wait to see who gets stuck with the claim before the process of fixing or replacing my truck starts. Of course, any communication between me and the insurance company will also be run by the attorney before I agree to anything. As I’ve had to rent a vehicle since the accident...

Re: Bumper cars..
Well, I got my attorney involved and USAA has told them that my claim is in subrogation between them and Progressive. Driver 1 (USAA) says he didn't hit me and shouldn't have to pay my claim. Driver 2 (Progressive) says that while he hit me, Driver 1 caused the whole accident and Driver 1 should pay...

We'll see how it works out with USAA. If nothing else, I can always get a consultation with an attorney about suing them as a last resort.

Re: Bumper cars..
Update-Progressive (my insurance) reviewed my claim and determined that the driver that hit me (also insured by Progressive) is not at fault. They told me that as far as they are concerned, the third driver (insured by USAA) is 100% at fault. Since I didn’t have collision coverage, there’s nothing m...

All we got out of the system was a very cold rain. Supposed to be more blowing in off the Pacific this next weekend-maybe. Tornadoes are one part of living in the SE that I don't miss. Don't get me wrong-they can happen out here but they're uncommon.

Re: More railroad watches
My watchmaker is the only area repairman here locally. Most other local watch “repair” shops only do battery changes on site. There’s one mail order watchmaker in Missouri that I trust-the watch I got from him was excellent. He does a lot of internet sales and auctions and is well regarded in the co...

Re: More railroad watches
Just got this in the mail yesterday. Had my local watchmaker temporarily replace the glass crystal with a plastic one as the original was very badly scratched. He measured the original crystal and I’ll order a replacement soon. https://i.imgur.com/HoPjCGq.jpg This is a private label Hamilton 944. Th...

Re: 2022 Tacoma TRD Sport
Not bad. The one that I have is a 2019 with 30k on it. If insurance totals it, I’ll probably get my Dad’s 2021(?) which has less than 5k on it. I’d like to consider getting a F150 Lightning, but they’re a bit pricey and more importantly, it won’t fit in the garage of my townhouse.

Re: More railroad watches
The Hamilton Grade 936 was the first watch manufactured by Hamilton in 1893. I've got 12 936s in the collection, the oldest three dating to 1895. I just bought a Hamilton 944 on eBay. It's a private label watch made for a jeweler in Elkhart, Indiana. I've got two private label Hamilton 936s that wer...
