That is what I thought. It does have shims and the numbers on the rear site are lined out.
When I bought it I didn't think it was a Finn. It was a great fine for sure.

Finnish question
Got a few questons on finnish mosins.
Did the Russians every put shims on their rifles? I assumed they took the time to make snipers more accurate but I'm talking basic rifles.
Also SA stamp is a finnish mark right? So if it has a SA it was reworked by the Finns right?
Thanks

Re: 7mm Mauser or swiss 7.5 be a better choice
What rifle do you currently own, and what rifles are you comfortable shooting at 100 or 200 yards? That is going to be the best rifle to hunt with. And then get lots of practice. I have a 1895 Chilean short rifle 7mm it is all stock nothing has been done to it other than a bit of cleaning. On the s...

Re: 7mm Mauser or swiss 7.5 be a better choice
Energywise, the 7.5x55 vs. the 7x57 is pretty much a wash. I have been reading on the ballistics of both rounds and I don't see huge difference. But I do have to say I'm not a expert on ballistics so I could be missing something. My mauser shoots good I might take it and double check it is consiste...

7mm Mauser or swiss 7.5 be a better choice
I have a Chilean 7mm mauser that shoots great, but I always hear great things about the swiss rifles. Plus as I don't have one I have thought about buying one. I'm asking because I was talking with a guy from church about doing some big game hunting next year. We are talking about deer, elk, or mayb...

Re: Brazil
Thanks for the info, I wasn't liking the idea of changing barrels for sure.
The guy I got it from was firing the rifle so it can't be too bad. The guy that looked at it for me had me a little worried.

Brazil
I have a Brazil MOD 08/34.30 so this is a 30-06 right? I bought the rifle a few years ago and I looked down the barrel it looked clean and bright so didn't think much about it. I had a guy I know look at the rifle and he says there are two heavy rusty spot in the barrel. One a few inches from the ch...

Looking again at liberty they do have the nose caps so I can order everything at one time. Looks like $201 plus shipping for every thing.

Re: Restore my Enfield No1 Mk3 or leave it?
Nice pic Ruger I forgot about that brass butt plate it looks very nice. I really hope I can reuse that on the new stock or I might just leave the cut up one on it for a while. The guy assured me it shots well and it came with about a half of box of ammo (he shot the other half) and nothing to make m...

Re: Restore my Enfield No1 Mk3 or leave it?
I have branched out my collecting into Mausers (which are becoming my first love when it comes to rifles) but this is the 2nd deal i found in a enfield so couldn't pass it up. If I get this one restored I will have one from each to he world wars in their correct setup, which is very cool to me. I th...

Restore my Enfield No1 Mk3 or leave it?
I found a Enfield No1 Mk3 star rifle dated 1917 for a great deal $140. I know the rifle was worth what I paid if it shoots but I would like to be able to restore this old girl. At first I thought I was getting the rifle cheap enough to rebuilt it but now not so sure. The seller said his grandfather ...

Re: SA stamp question
You have an actual m91, not a shorter dragoon. The dragoons are what were updated to 91/30 specs with a few exceptions. Post WW1 Soviet m91s like yours are few and far between. It is a very cool rifle, when I saw it I knew it was different but I couldn't get my brain to work out what was different....

Re: SA stamp question
Finnish capture either from the Winter War or the Continuation War. The Red Army issued and fielded hundreds of thousands m/91 rifles during the WWII. And no m/91 rifles were ever updated to m/91-30 configuration or anything else in the Soviet Union. Only dragoons were and those were done mainly - ...

SA stamp question
I don't really know what I have here or what the history would be on this rifle. Hoping someone can help set me straight on my thought path here. I found a M91 Tula 1922 at a gun show over the weekend. The rifle is 51 1/2" long, the front sight is the blade with the old style rear sights, there...

Re: Turk mauser and enfield 4 mk2 question
Thanks for the info. I figured those markes where from where the drill got alway from the guy. They don't bother me that much but I would put some cold blue or paint just to keep it from rusting up. I was able to get the Turk mauser apart I put some oil on everything, took a grinder to a screw drive...

Re: Turk mauser and enfield 4 mk2 question
What do you think about the holes in the enfield? They are behind the bolt head so I thought they won't be a issue but I still would like to fill in the holes.

Re: Turk mauser and enfield 4 mk2 question
That is the K Kale 1898 Mauser action, The Turks received the machinery to make this receiver from Brno in the 30's, by 1939 they had receivers in full production . You can use the stocks intended for the 1898 receiver and no other, make sure you know what you are buying, and the seller knows what ...

Looking under the wood on the enfield there is no paint there, the blueing look pretty and no rust so all good news.

Re: Turk mauser and enfield 4 mk2 question
Here are some pics. Top is my Chilean Mauser in 7mm Middle Enfield No4 Mk2 in 303 Bottom Turkish Mauser in 8mm As you can see the turk stock was cut in front of the sling/barrel band. The idiot that did it flared out the screw threads on the barrel band screw so it won't come out. The last pic you c...

Re: Turk mauser and enfield 4 mk2 question
Possibly, but why not just get the correct Turkish stock? They tend to be the least expensive ones. Important question first, what action is used in the rifle? What we call the 1938 Turk can be anything from a Commission 88 receiver to 1893, 1903, or GEW98 style, even oddball Enfield and Mosin rece...
