Re: P.38 Pistols
You did a wonderful job on that one. I'm sure that rifle could go for $800 to $1k in today's market. Thanks! It was a lucky find for that price. Russian captures are bringing 700 to 800 bucks now. I'd dare say that one would bring close to 2 grand now. I'm amazed at how much Milsurps have appreciat...

Re: P.38 Pistols
Totally off topic but I picked up this svw45 K98k Mauser with the original sling on it at a local pawn shop a few years ago. They had it marked as a Yugoslavian Mauser for $350.00. I immediately offered $350 out the door and they took it. One of my luckiest finds ever.

Re: P.38 Pistols
I only have one. My Grandpa brought one back from WW2, but we were robbed in the late 80's and it was stolen. I picked one up just because he had one. No idea what his was as at the time. I was a teenager with other things on my mind. Mine's a Spreewerk from 1944.

Re: Remington Rand with Grandpa's WW2 Grips
That's awesome getting to put your Grandfather's grips on a proper USGI 1911!!! I'd say if you could find some old pictures of his putting them under the grips would do it justice!

WD-40 won't harm the finish. Either that or soak it in Kroil.

It is what it is. For a true 9x18 recoil experience one should shoot a Polish P-64. The muzzle flip on those are a hoot...

Took an outdoors picture yesterday evening of my CMP Field Grade I posted above. For the money I think it's hard to beat the CMP for a genuine USGI rifle or pistol.

Re: Tinkering on mowers & such
So far in the last year I've fixed a Troybilt 8hp tiller, a 42in John Deere riding mower and a 8hp B&S engine. It's on a Wlnco 4000 watt generator. As long as people are too lazy or dumb to use 100% gas I won't run out of stuff to tinker on. I don't make any money on this but it's fun to me. I ...

Re: Not a beast, but a Savage
Very nice! Pawn shop local to me has a couple of these they have sat on forever. I'd thought about picking one of them up, but I got back into guitars and that vanished from my memory until now. One of these days I'll go by and see if they still have them. The last time I paid attention to them (whi...

Re: Anyone else getting in on the Round 4 CMP 1911 sale?
I received my Round 4 CMP Field Grade today. It's a Colt frame with a Remington Rand slide. I haven't pulled it apart yet, but I'd bet it has a correct barrel in it too. Barrel looks great too with strong lands and grooves. Finish looks Du-Lite to me, and it definitely isn't parkerized. I'm real hap...

Re: Repairing a 91/30 - Family Heirloom
I don't know if this is allowed for discussion here. If not please guide me to where I can ask this question or move to the appropriate location as I can find no help anywhere We have a 91/30 in the family that has extreme sentimental value and was damaged by, let's just say, an irresponsible perso...

Re: The Mosin You Wish You Still Had
I sold an M28 SY in a Ski Trooper stock back in 2018 that I really should have kept. I'd found it in a pawn shop, and picked it up on the cheap. It paid for something more expensive that I wanted more. Probably another Garand or 1911, but I really should have kept it...

Re: (of the) World's Rarest Mausers
Erfurt AX 41 all matching including the stock set with proper sling. It was missing the front sight hood and cleaning rod so I added those. I traded a Cold Commander 1911 for it. Mauser Orbendorf svw45 Kriegsmodel that is a total mismatch, but has it's proper stock and sling. Found this in a pawn sh...
