Use of the gas check depends on how fast your sending the bullet down the barrel. Full hot loads Yes use a gas check. Slow light loads/check barrel for leading. I have received this Book and find it most educational and enlightening, full of pictures and history, I recommend it . I ordered an extra to keep as new :) Since the first ones gonna get worn out going through it.

Check the video above, it should help you out. Slug your barrel, for bore size ie: .308, .310, .311, .312, ..313 ect...find out your chamber dimensions go from there. OMG lauhed so hard at your story tears running down my face. I know exactly how you feel about the wonderful snow, Ken in Colorado on a mountain top with snow and ice till sometime in June! then at anytime it can and will snow or hail throughout the summer. :chuckles: :chuckles: :chuckles:

I have been trying different loads for my various Mosin Nagants. I have not tried them all yet. I was shooting yesterday and this load suprised me in it's accuracy and lighter recoil. I happen to have excess 4064 powder so thats what I am using presently. bullet is Sierra 150 grn. jsp spitzer dia. ....

Scope not original nor mount, bolt handle looks suspect too. ch stamp would be for a sniper bbl. I don't see it either.

Shoot it first, Yes! see how it is, then decide whether to shim /accurize it further. Somewhere I read it is usual for them to have a few punds of upward pressure on the barrel in the stock thats how they were made. Combat weapons yes not custom built target rifles. But they can be very accurate .

The 165 grn. should be fine, shot placement is the key here. If you handload you can experiment for the most accurate load for your rifle. Just shoot it and become at ease with it and where it shoots at different ranges. Does it group well? ifso just practice and become a good shot with it. locktite...

Hello, I enjoy the Mosins I have a model 1927 9130 and a 1944 m44 posting as per requirements. Hope to learn much and be helpful in what I know.
