I'm more a collector of historic rifles, not hunting rifles. This rifle however filled a particular niche that's been bugging me for years. I really wanted a "elephant gun" or at least a belted magnum of some sort. I have been on the lookout for a rifle in .458 Win Mag, or .375 H&H, and finally this Ruger popped up for a good deal locally.
Its a M77 MK1 with the tang safety. It looks nearly unfired, as I suspect most of these magnum caliber rifles are. I fired a few shots from it, before my shoulder had enough. I'm ecstatic that i finally got this rifle, so I thought I'd share it here.

Nearly unfired because it crushes clavicles. That is a beautiful rifle, but $10 a shot would deter me

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

That would be great for executing a bulldozer. I do, however, understand the draw. ;)steelbuttplate wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 3:00 am Sweet I've been meaning to get one of those these damn elephants are stomping down everything.

I have two Ruger M77 Mk I rifles in .270 Winchester and .30-06 Springfield. Great rifles!
