45-70 brass or dies help?

Hey ladies and gents, I'm having a hell of a time finding brass or reloading dies to work up some 45-70 loads for my new to me 2009 marlin 1895 cb. If any of you have any spare brass or dies you are willing to let go please pm me. Thanks!

I just received a set of RCBS 45-70 dies from Shiloh Sharps. You may try them. They are steel dies.

Well, good luck on the 45-70 Government brass.
I tried the other day and couldn't find any anywhere.
I have about 50 rounds loaded and about 50 unloaded right now> I was going to load up another 100 rounds. BUT, no brass anywhere.
I have almost 2000 primers, and plenty of powder, but I see those are tough to get also. I cast my own bullets, so that is just lead.

It is troubling to see these shortages. All because of these "buying frenzy" that is going on. Everyone is making brass for "other" caliburs.

Sad. I'll keep looking Around, and if I find something, I'll post it here.

Well, we have been at this point at least once before when President Obama took over. There was a huge gun scare back then also. It took a while before it settled back down (at higher prices).

I haven't looked for a shell holder yet as my sharps is on order and Shiloh takes about a year before they start building them so I am in no hurry. I will check on the few shall holders I have and will see if I have to look for one or not.

I contacted Starline (only makers of empty 45-70 cases). They said they are so behind on other cases, that it might be a year till they get back in stock.

So, you can buy Loaded ammo at $1.90 a round and fire the round (if your rifle can handle it) and you have a "case".
Don't fire these in a old Trapdoor or something. For those, open the round up and dump the powder charge and use the primer, case, and bullet again.

I haven't had any luck finding shell holders, may I ask where you found them available? The loaded ammo was my first choice to acquire however everywhere around me is out of loaded 45-70 and Californiastan won't allow me to order online so the hunt continues...

Well as luck would have it I found some grizzly 45-70 loaded ammo and a shell holder at my local store today. Store limit was two boxes of twenty but I have something to shoot and everything I need now to get reloading.

Not sure where you live or if you have any local ranges near you? I got my 45-70 brass at my local range. I got 100 cases used brass I paid $40.00. Some were for lever guns which is shorter than the trap door I shoot, maybe 10%. I deprimed them and tumbled them. They look good as new!
