Nagant Revolver marking identification?

Post by mosin94 »

Picked up this today. The 1915 date makes sense but not sure what this 1928 mark is? Interesting refurb anyways.

Испр 1928 or Ispr 1928 means corrected in 1928. исправленние translates as ispravlennie which translates as corrected, amended, or revised.

One belief is that it possibly refers to the pistol being converted from single action to double action. Whether that part is true or not I do not know.

Whatever you have there, refurbished or revised, it is a very unique revolver. I don't think there are a whole lot of 1915 Tula Nagants out there. Two thumbs up!

I just wanted to add that there has never been a better time to buy military surplus ammo for the 7.62x38r. I saw spam cans on sale at SG Ammo for $249.50. That's about 23 cents a round. They don't have any 9 Luger or much 5.56, but you can buy a couple of hundred pounds of Nagant ammo if you so desire.

Buying and using that much ammo comes with a health benefit. You would end up with the strongest index finger in the nation.

I am looking at another one. It is not nearly as pretty as the OP's, but it was not refurbished and has no import marks.

HAHA! :chuckles: That is so true; especially double action. Have to admit, the more I shoot the little 1926 Tula refurb, the smoother the single action trigger pull.

Maybe we should all work on firing the 1895 with our middle fingers.

Having an obscenely huge middle finger could come in handy these days...

BTW, my tin arrived today. 1976 vintage with only one dent...

I was in a pawn shop in Casa grande Arizona last week and the asking price was $499.00 for the 1895 Nagant revolver in the display case, after asking for the tag to be turned around so I could read it "no I don't need to see it was my reply" mine has been sitting in static display on a shelf next to several Mosin Nagant rifles for about 15 years, as mentioned in another post the collector lust has faded on some of this stuff.
