Non import 1934 Izhevsk 91/30

Post by Anzac15 »

Picked up this non import marked 1934 Izhevsk today. It is completely devoid of import marks, and apparently never went through a complete refurb as the rear sight base is not pinned. Bolt matches barreled receiver, those are the only matching numbers.
Nice cartouche on right of butt, some small decoration on left.
The wood on this pre war stock is unusually thick, particularly the wrist.
I was thinking SCW, but not entirely sure. Enjoy the pics!

That's a nice one. The stock is from 36-38, maybe a little earlier based on the stock markings. Nice grab.
On Facebook? Check out the non-sporter preservationist group at: OOOPS. Deleted by Facebook because it's evil to even discuss collectible firearms on social media these days.

Is the Izhevsk crown scrubbed ? Balkan scrub ?

Nice one, I like the look of the patina. Appears the shank was scrubbed, but can't really see the scrub marks on the receiver. Probably imported pre 1968 ?? Uncommon find these days, it's a keeper.

If you run your finger over the receiver, you can kind of feel a bit of unevenness...so I'm guessing a minor scrub. Appears to have been done quite a long time ago.

Nice rifle. I'm thinking it came out of the Balkans. Never know though. I know that Century imported a ton of these out of Romania but the lack of import marks on this one makes it anyone's guess...
