CMP 1911

Post by steelbuttplate »

These are going to be available next yr. 10,000 for a trial program, then 10,000 per yr. after that, limit one per yr. for members. Fair market price. Not approved for shipment to C&R FFL's. Must go thru a FFL 01-02

CTD explained it to have a few requirements more than normal to get one. Nevertheless I want one.

I'll be in line too. Despite the crazy process.

I'll definitely be in for at least one. No big deal having it transferred to an FFL 01, 02 or 07 if you ask me.

Here's the latest information on the CMP website.

To each his own I guess. I have a nice CMP Garand but I will not jump through all of the hoops put in place on the 1911's. I know a bunch of guys will, and they will sell out, but I wont be one of them. I wont pay full retail on anything, especially for a sight unseen pistol of questionable condition. Just my two cents.

From the CMP info, looks like the Army only transferred 8,000 for FY2018. They also said that grading and inspections won’t start until their new building is completed and approved. Construction is expected to take sixty days. Looks like the earliest the 1911s will be available will be sometime this summer.

I'm glad I have a few months to decide whether to try and get one of these or not. I think I probably will try for one! How about you guys?

I don’t qualify and I’m afraid my new paychecks won’t either.

My extra pay is stopping for a spell. I can't get one this yr., I think the info I read was $850----$1100 for field and rack grade. I'd probably get another service grade Garand for $750 and forget about the 1911.

CMP has started to take the info needed to purchase a1911. I believe it runs into September. Then there will be a lottery style drawing to see who gets to buy one.

For what they will go for I would rather buy one from a private collector, pay a bit more & know what I'm getting. A luck of the draw lottery? No thanks.

The application is available now, however it can not be received by the CMP before September 4th or after October 4th, 2018.

Yeah, I'm still gonna be filling out and sending in an order form.

Anyone think these will hurt the value of comparable pistols in circulation already?

I have no interest in something at that cost that I can not choose for myself.
