Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Now you're just being a tease!! At least give some details! I really like the m27, an excellent upgrade to an already great rifle.

Re: M27
It is a 1932 Tikka built on a 1915 Tula receiver. Matching bolt and it has the little wings on the connector bar which is also serial numbered to the bolt. It had never had the grease removed since it was bought at Roses back in the 90s. The bore is full of goo, so I can't really tell what it looks like until I get it home. I will have some pics tonight. I had it all apart and cleaned the metal bits in the parts washer here at work.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Re: M27
Man it's sounding pretty sweet! Looking forward to pics. Mine has got the cutout for the winged connector but sadly, no winged connector. I saw in one of the big Finn WWII movies that the soldiers weren't too fond of them due to jamming issues & replaced them with regular connectors the first chance they got. Not sure how true that is but I think it was in Tali Inhantala if my memory is correct.

Pics.
I got the bore clean. It looks shiny and really good.
I have known the guy that had this rifle for a long time. I have been trying to get it for at least 7 or 8 years. Last fall he came to me looking for a Swiss 96/11. I just happened to have one, and offered it in trade for this M27. He bit and he was supposed to bring his M27 in to trade for my 96/11. I did not see the guy for 6 months. Finally I see him and he takes the 96/11. A few days later, while I was gone, He dropped off a rifle at my work. When I came in the next day I opened up the case to see an Argentine Mauser. Not bad, but not what I traded for. I emailed the fellow and he apologized and said he would find the right one. 1 month later he brought this to me. It was worth the hassle to me.
BTW, dude is just busy and absentminded, not a bad dealer.

It has the wings still. And the connector is numbered to the bolt still.SA1911a1 wrote:Does it still have it's wings, or has it fallen from grace?
I traded a Swiss 96/11, for the M27, not a Swedish M96. I only have 1 of those and it is not going anywhere. A few years ago I traded a 1935 Tula refurb for the Swiss rifle, and while it was a superb rifle, I didn't like feeding it. So it was not too hard to trade it off. That and I bought the 1935 tula refurb back when they were $99, so it made this a really good deal.Pahtu wrote:Superb rifle, while I started off collecting Swedish Mausers & I still like Swedish Mausers, gotta say ya did good on the trade, not many M27s still have the "Wings" Pahtu.

Re: M27
Very nice rifle! With the numbers matching winged connector bar that is a real find these days. I can remember prowling around Roses stores many years ago looking at Finns. Those days are long gone, Gads that has to be 30 years ago now. My how time flies. When you bring that to the range bring an assortment of ammo with as my F marked M27 is very picky as to what it closes on and if I remember right it also has a tight chamber for head space too. I don't think that rifle has a D stamping and that might make yours a no trouble fit on ammo though. Either way they are usually great shooters with a great old time rear sight which my eyes greatly prefer. Congrats and enjoy her at the range. We were heading there Friday and found the local range to be closed for range work, Rats Joe and I had a range of guns to shoot and it was hard to do most of them in the yard but we did get the AR based 9mm with a red dot on paper and zeroed nice though. Congrats again! Bill

Is the function of the Popsicle sticks to stabilize the muzzle,? or just hold shit together?
