The Mosin isn't chromed in the bore, neither is the M Garand and most other military rifles. Clean it properly and there is no problem.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Weight & gas valve issues are the only negatives that I can think of. I shoot mainly off of a bench so the weight doesn't bother me a bit & I actually like it more than my Russian SKS. The gas valve can leak but a replacement runs about $20 and is a drop in fix.

Needs total disassembled and cleaning.. Have a Murray firing pin coming as well.

Well finally shot my Yugo (with new spring firing pin) Zero.point.zero jams after 100 rounds.. TOTALLY amazing gun... Also blasted my 1925 Mosin. Perf it;!!
