Yugo SKS

Post by Michkal »

Thinking about getting a Yugo SKS... Looking for any minus... Yeah Non-chromed but is that a bug deal if I keep the rifle clean and oiled..

The Mosin isn't chromed in the bore, neither is the M Garand and most other military rifles. Clean it properly and there is no problem.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Weight & gas valve issues are the only negatives that I can think of. I shoot mainly off of a bench so the weight doesn't bother me a bit & I actually like it more than my Russian SKS. The gas valve can leak but a replacement runs about $20 and is a drop in fix.
