Post by steelbuttplate »

We did this with WWII rifles, the M-1 Garand the clear winner.
What would be your 3 picks for Military semi auto, 1920- 1960? No AR's
Mine,.... M-1A, SKS, M-1 carbine

The M1A is not a military weapon, it's simply a name Springfield sporters chose for their commercial semi auto version of the US military's M14 rifle. The M14 is a select fire weapon. Some may use military parts kits but the receivers are new made and the selector switch omitted.

And .....a AR platform is not a military rifle either. It is the civilian semi auto version of a M16 (select fire). So no need to eliminate it from military semi autos.

I'll take "military style" for $1,000.00 Alex. ;)

I'd like to change one of my picks to the FN M249S series of rifles. The PARA version is cool too...

The Garand trumps all for me though. Hands down my favorite battle rifle!

three picks for what???
One's I'd like to have?
One's that worked the best?
Because some of these that are suggested were not so good on the battle field, but they may be rare as Hell now and expensive.

Good point Dolk! I was thinking ones that I'd like to own now! If I had to fight with them I'd probably replace the G43 with an SKS.

Well, of course everybody would want the most valuable. I mean the 3 you get to keep, shoot, and fight a war with if needed. I can't own an M-14 and there not for sale anyway so change my M1A to a Garand.

If I have to fight with it the most valuable rifle on earth is the one that shoots straight and never jams when it's in my hands. It could be anything so long as it meets that specific criteria.

Use
Garand
Lux FN-49
French MAS 49/56

Being I already own all three the ones I would like to own would be

1941 Johnson
G/K 43
FN-49 Brazilian also .30-06 and it would go so very well with the rest of my Brazilian Rifles.
