Remington M91
Remington M91
Answered an ad a few weeks for a couple of WWI rifles, the guy had no interest in or knowledge of Milsurps. Picked up the Rem. and a early stocked M38. No import marks so this one stayed stateside and probably used has military trainer. Shot very little (shiny bore) a few nicks and dings around the stock. Only matching s/n's are on the barrel shank and buttplate, however all parts of the bolt group and mag assembly are stamped circle R. Has anyone ever seen these number/letters stamped on top of wrist?

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
C. S. Lewis

The stamps on the wood may be rack numbers assigned to these stateside rifles.

Excellent find! Never seen stamps like those on the wrist before.

One of my dream guns ! Very awesome, many congrats. I had a sporter a few years ago with perfect markings but I wasn't satisfied with a sporter so I traded it and have since wished I still had it.
