Details and where you got the info. He and Hillary stepped on the M1 carbines coming back in and I don't see him putting more guns on the street.

People who start such false rumors will be taken into a small windowless room, sat at a table and have a 1911-A1 placed in front of them with one bullet in it and 30 seconds before the hungry and pissed off bears are set loose. The choice will be theirs.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I have seen it in a couple places now. It may be a couple years out as it takes time to refurb 100,000 pistols.

I'd like one myself. And I'm not a 1911 fan.

It was attached to the latest spending bill, obammy didn't have a choice but to sign it. Sadly, they did cover their azzes.....the language states that the Secretary of Defense "may" transfer and only "up to 10K per year". So in reality they don't "have" to transfer any of this surplus to the CMP. I'm not trying to be a wet blanket here, just a realist. Let's hope the new Administration is much more favorable to making this happen.

I would expect that the majority of these are not good enough to fix. I assume these are more war relics and should be treated as such. I would gladly layout a modest fee for a relic to cherish as is. Do you really think of these as shooters?

I would like to think that the CMP would apply the same process to these as they do with the rifles: sort and grade, run them through the shop, and sell them as "rack grade", "field grade", "special grade", etc.

I would also bet that they still have ammo in storage for them also. when I was in the army part of my job was to pick up ammo from the asp and we would have to go in the under ground bunkers to get it. there was still a lot of ammo and explosives from the 60's and that was back in 2003 when I retired and it was still there.in 1991 when I was in Iraq we were shooting 155 rounds that were dated in the 70's .

My 1911 was issued to the Navy in 1913. It shoots as well as any newer 1911 or clone out there.

Talking with the guys at work, it was mentioned that perhaps as many as 150,000 of these 1911s have been spoken for. Not just a1s but wwI relics as well. As I always say,"Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear." :2cents:

I just checked both my tea leaves and my ouji board, they are coming. The price of my 1917 just dropped like my retirement account last quarter.

I don't think it will hurt the collecting value. Non-CMP Garands continued to gain value in spite of the CMP reworks, original is original.
