The 9x18 Makarov Triumvirate
The 9x18 Makarov Triumvirate
Was playing around with my phone and shot some images of my three 9x18 Makarov pistols. I think I will need a FEG PA63 eventually. What else do I need to round out this group?
Re: The 9x18 Makarov Triumvirate
That's a good looking set of pistols sorry no help here on what you could add to make it better.
Re: The 9x18 Makarov Triumvirate
P83 Wanad (sucks though), East German, Chinese, Russian (Military & Commerical) Makarov
Re: The 9x18 Makarov Triumvirate
Lots of 9x18 ammo.....and maybe a PA 63.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Thanks guys. I kind of like the 9x18 Makarov round, it is fun to shoot and easy to reload for.
Re: The 9x18 Makarov Triumvirate
I like the 9x18 round. My CZ-82 is my best shooter, although the Russian IJ-70A Makarov is a close second. Both are reliable and accurate.
Re: The 9x18 Makarov Triumvirate
I took the CZ 82 and the P64 shooting yesterday. The P64 really disliked the Silver Bear ammo with three FTF in one session. I was also testing Hornady XTP HPs to CCW carry with both. As long as you snap that slide hard on that first round, didn't have any issues with feeding or ejecting. That is one thing the modern pistols like my M&P Shield have over C&R pistols like these. The Shield happily feeds anything I put through it, I am up to about a thousand rounds through it and so far, not one FTF or FTE. The C&R pistols are more finicky about ammo.

Cool
An oddity I stumbled across, a Vz61, which was originally available a .32acp, but lately I've found one each in .380acp and in 9mm Mak. I'm guessing they would be importer built semi auto Vz 64 and Vz 68 models.

I said I was an addict. I didn't say I had a problem.

Nice group you have. I have a CZ82, East German Makarov, P64, and commercial Russian Makarov in 380 cal. They all shoot well except the P64 like to "bite". Still like it though.
Re: The 9x18 Makarov Triumvirate
Yes, I really like all three of these. You can't beat an Eastern Bloc all steel pistol. I like my plastic guns but these are more special.

Great trio.
My P64 is a lot of fun. I've been looking for the best price on ammo but Monarch is hard to beat.

Re: The 9x18 Makarov Triumvirate
Reloading beats that ;-) .11 per round, more accurate and I can make full bore or powder puff loads as my mood determines what I am going to shoot. 9x18 Mak, inexplicably, has been really expensive the past few years. Reloading is the only way to go if you don't like paying hyper inflated prices.
