I got this rifle in tandem with the Enfield I posted earlier. All #s match. Beat up pretty good. Bore is perfect, as usual on these. Found a tag under the butt plate. Should make a good shooter anyway. Well worth the 150 bucks I have in it.

Very nice! Phenomenal price. You'll like the GP11 ammo. Shoots great.

Nice rifle and the best ammo you can get for it. Keep it - supplies of it aren't unlimited, since they are no longer made. Even here in neighbouring Germany GP 11 becomes ever more difficult to find. BTW, the tag you found means that this rifle once belonged to a Monsieur Jean Humbert, born 1936, who served with Compagnie de fusiliers (Riflemen Company) II/5 and lived in 7, Rue (Street) Montpellier in the town of Payerne in the Swiss canton Vaud. I'm sure you will find some information about that unit in the internet - there are some nice official sites of the Swiss military covering quite a few of their units.

Very nice rifle you have there, I love mine in the darker walnut stock. Now start watching for a bayonet as the prices are going up you can still find a deal now and then. The bayonets are a work of art too as is most everything Swiss made.

Thanks for that info. I will check it out. Kind of neat to see exactly where a rifle has been.

It truly is, the tags make them that more interesting. Mine was last used by an Italian guy.

Very good price and the ammo is a super bonus. Looks pretty good to me for $150

Looks like manufacture date of 1952 with a 1948 stock. The stock and handguard should match too.
