First trout fishing trip ever

Post by ponycarman »

Jus got done with our first trout fishing trip. Had a good time. Did alot of hiking haha. It was tons different than the lake fishing I am used too.

Right as we got in the park I found this random guy in the middle of the walk way lol.

Also found this weird guy down by the river.

I fished a little in this small pool. It was quite the challenge with a 9ft rod. I wish I had my shorter setup done.

Image

Caught my first trout ever there. Tiny little guy. Didn't even realize I got him. Could barely feel the rod wiggle lol. Caught one other little trout. Maybe an inch bigger than the first but that was it. Trout fishing is quite different and we really didn't know what we were doing haha.

Also saw some falls. Pretty nice. The pictures don't do it justice.

That looks like a sardine  it was hot and humid here, still is, other than the flea markets I stayed indoors near the AC all weekend.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

He is a little rainbow. It was hot here too. But the river was cold and kinda made for a natural ac. It was hot all over but nice and cool by the river.

The place I am going to this week was one of my favorite places to trout fish. I love walking the rivers. I see some wonderful scenery in those pictures.

The worm is a Toby Worm---you should have put it on your hook I guarantee you would have caught a fish. You are still learning and glad to see you out fishing

My Aunt and Uncle owned a Trout farm and raised 100,000 of rainbows to sell to the TWRA back in the 1970's and 1980's.I used to go catch them all the time when I was little on a canepole and a kernal of corn. That is the only way I know to catch them.

Sweet! I'd like to try it again sometime. Gotta study up on the habits of the species. We were a bit unprepared. Probably the cause of the few that was caught. Tough trying to maneuver a 9ft fly rod n the tight areas.
