1969 m39 is home

Post by jonnyboy091373 »

After a weeks worth of transit time via ups, I finally picked up my newest family member, a 69 m39 on a 1898 Izhevsk reciever. So not only a low production year (somewhere around 600) but also an antique! :pointleft:
needless to say I am ecstatic and will be posting plenty of pictures tomorrow. If any and all approve, I'll do a write up for a showcase submission. It need more m39's and this one is special (at least in my mind.) But again, that'll be for when picture proof shows up and if others agree it is worthy. Right now I may as well be talking about the flying monkeys outside my window and it could be just as true without pictures. :lol:

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

No, they were produced into the early 1970's, the 1970 date is seen about as much as the 67-69 one's are, but dates newer than that are very rare.

The No Maker 67-70 M-39's are all some of the nicest condition M39's that are available today. Most have pristine bores, great bluing, and wonderful post war stocks. Many are built on antique receivers and maybe because the older receivers were all that were left. Everyone I have ever laid my hands on was a good shooter and made me look like I wasn't the blind old bat I am. They are getting more expensive and harder to find too. Our friends at Burns have shown they think they are worth much more than a normal M39 for sure. Congrats on finding one and I think you will find they are great shooters! Bill ;mywink;

They were created for one purpose, marksmanship training, I have five, 1967-1970, and the "48" marked, while all of my M39's are fantastic shooters these dates seem a slight cut above. I guess they have been tweaked as much as any M39 can be.
