Went shopping for a Mauser,came home with a M38..:)

Post by Sonny »

A few days ago I was looking at the website of Milarms and in their inventory they had a Swedish Mauser model 1894 Carbine listed.Sweet I said I want that rifle. So today I walk in there with a pocket full of cash ready to buy the swede, yup you guessed it.They sold it to someone else, bummer. Now I'm just standing there with a big pout on my face when I see 3 mosins in the rack right in front of me.It takes a few seconds to sink in but damn those are short Mosins. All of a sudden my eyes bug out and I have a big chit eating grin on my face...M38's woohoo.. Carbines...they may not be Mausers but they are Carbines..So I picked up the ugliest of the three and walked out of the shop a happy camper.

And I shall call it my Mountain Mosin. :D

I think I may have paid to much tho.The 91/30's were priced at $199 and the M38's were $275 but I'm happy with it.

Seems to me that I read here somewhere that the screws in the sling slot makes them special is this true?

You scored one of the 1941-early 42 stocks, very nice, :)

I saw the screws and it didn't even register. I was too busy figuring out how to get to them hills.

Sweet find! The price isn't bad for an M38.
Like you, I'd love to have a Swedish Mauser. My Dad had a bayonet on
his loading room wall which I recently learned that it is for a Swedish 1894-14
so I'd love to have the gun to go with it. I don't know where he got the bayonet
but I always remember it hanging on the wall.

Very nice, I miss my M38...but I got a nice AK-74 in trade for her, so I guess it doesn't hurt too bad

Not really. Just kidding. Well,........... yes, I am sure I was kidding. I'd love a AK74, and a m38. I would actually not get rid of either one. Now I got my story straight. :P
