Is this corrosive?

Post by Ironnewt »

7.62x39 ammunition, packed in cardboard boxes, Cyrillic alphabet, brass cased, 1967 manufacture.

closest English equilivant
on box of 40 (on strippers)
40 koma(weird a)a
7.62mm METAK ca 06 n4hnm 3pohm M67
n mecnhr ahom 4aypom y okbnpnma
hk -7906-09 m6(WEIRD BACKWARDS N) -77118

Guy asked me about it and I said to err on the side of caution, treat as corrosive
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

Yes, It is.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

We were doing black powder sight ins at my club and a member brought his "smoke-pole" and an AK (to shoot later) and was intending to feed this stuff to it. I said that it probably was corrosive but would ask some guys who would know for sure. Thanks to all!

i always treat any foreign ammo like that as corrosive.
