I finally found one at a price I could justify. Looks well used but I believe its an original stock, from what I have read, it has the correct matching parts. 1895 Tula receiver is a bonus.
Cleaned her up but didn't take it to the range yet.
I'll put all the pics up and let the Finn experts tell me what I have.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Most likely the original stock. The buttplate is a serial match. It would be uncommon to bother to move over a buttplate from 1 stock to the next.
The bolt has been around the block as well, but is stamped (on the knob) to match...it's in the correct rifle. Nice that the CG District is stamped on the bolt as well, fairly uncommon feature.

I agree with finlog on the original stock. That's some of the nicest Sestroryetsk marked parts I've ever seen. Is that a Chatellerault stamped bolt handle?
Very cool rifle.

That is a fantastic M28!!!! It is all original matching and one that you should never part with. While not being able to say with 100% certainty that the stock is original-I feel pretty confident in saying it is.
Should you ever wish to sell it, I would gladly pay you handsomely for that example. For the definition of all original matching, find my M28 in the showcase and read the copy.
As for the potential Chatellerault markings on the bolt.
To this point, I have never seen a raised letter in a relieved circle that has not been Chatellerault or sub-contractor of Chatellerault.

Not selling is a good idea and I'm glad to hear it! As far as I know, the Civil Guard turned over inventory to the Army.
Some of the rifles, I'm guessing, got missed when stamping. I've seen a few that don't have the Army property stamp.
