53 Hungarian M52 Sniper Rifle / Showcase submission

Post by Miller Tyme »

I picked this rifle up in January 2012 on an on line auction with fuzzy pics and a very vague description. A little reasearch on the seller showed him to always describ his auctions in a very conservitive manner ( to the point of under selling them) so I took a chance and snagged it and was very pleasantly pleased to see it was a all numbers matching 02 Hungarian M52 rifle.

The scope , it is a WW2 Russian KOMZ scope that was refurbed, wether it was then shipped to Hungary is unclear but there is a #2 stamped on the scope ( not an 02) the scope mount is a post war Russian.

Now you're talking miller tyme! What a beautiful, hard to find rifle. I just love this one. It's a shoe in for the showcase. I believe that JYD has one of these that is a wartime bring back from Nam!

Yes I do Russell, Walt is very lucky in that he had the information on this rifle going in to the sale. Back when I picked up mine I had little clue what it was other than a communist North Vietnamese, probably Russian made sniper rifle. No internet, no books on the subject except with the most rudimentary information, nobody with any familiarity with these rifles. It was some time before I discovered exactly what it was, nearly 15 years later.
