Latest Gunbroker Purchase

Post by BubbaDX »

Earlier this week I was trying to decide between two rifles. One of them was the Enfield in my other post here Martini-Henry Estimated Value

Today the other rifle I was looking at was closing in on the end of the auction and I could not stand it anymore. I entered my bid and left for lunch to let the cards fall where they may. Before we got to the restaurant I received my email confirming it was mine. YES!!!!! I am now the proud owner of a 1900 Izhevsk M91 with the Finnish Army property mark. I have my envelope ready to go with a money order, C&R and a copy of my drivers license. I am very excited to see this one in person. Here is a link to the finished auction, what do you think? Did I do good? Finnish Mosin Nagant 7.62.x54 dated 1900

This will be my first Izhevsk M91 and my first Finnish Mosin Nagant. This will look very good next to my 1915 NEW M91.

I watched this one go for two full auctions without a single bid. This was the 3rd time it was listed and he dropped the opening bid $10. I was pleasantly surprised to win this auction.

How did it happen that last year I bought an excellent, original, matching, W. von Steiger, Thun Swiss 1869/71 Vetterli with a bore like a mirror for $195? Such things sell for $500+, sometimes on GB people fall asleep at the switch, fail to search, things get miss cataloged. You have to take your time and look carefully, hunt, it doesn't happen often that good stuff slips through the cracks, but it does happen.

Wow, and I thought I'd done well on my '55 Romanian M44 at 255. I guess sometimes they sneak through, even these days.

Very nice find, congrats! :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Helps when sellers don't seem to know what it is they have.

Looks good enogh to me! I would say a Balkans rifle being it is without the cleaning rod and I see some signs of scrubbing. The stock alone is worth a good deal these days. It does indeed have a nice stripe to the butt stock area. Congrats a great start on the Tall Finnish Ladies M91's. Bill ;mywink;

I recall seeing some of the older Finnish M91 imports without cleaning rods, one of mine was missing it and it took forever to find the right one. Probably easier today with the internet.

Mine is in much worse condition. But still think we have two from the same family. So if you ever need to compare a part or feature, look me up.

Wow, very cool. And they are only about 4400 apart on the serial numbers. I know Russia mixed up the serial numbers, but that is still way cool. They were both probably captured by Finland while they were kicking the snot out of Russia.

Good find! I've been sleeping on the GB circuit. I have been more focussed on M39s. Great find again! :vcool: :vcool: :vcool:
