My Measley MN Collection

Post by musketjon »

I'm new to the world of MN's and this forum. Just thought I'd share a pic or two of the stable. Hope you like them. Any/all comments welcome.

Nice start! Welcome to the forum. This kind of reminds me of my start. I started with a 42 Izhevsk 91/30, then a 28 Izhevsk updated Dragoon and a 39 Izhevsk 91/30. Then I started buying M91's......yeah.....at that point I became a lost cause. No going back from there.

Welcome to the board, excellent collection so far, I see you have red highlights on the serial numbers of one of them, see the post in the Mosin forum regarding them. Nice color to that M39's stock, comes from years of Finn wax treatments and roasting near campfires while the troops were in the field.   :vcool:

Hey musketjon :welcome: to the forum. As mentioned above the lammy stock on your 43 is very nice. Up-dated dragoons are always a plus, your 36 Tula should have the nice pre-war smooth machining on the barrel and receiver  and the M39 you will find is one of the favorites of the members here on the forum. Also as mentioned above how about four or five individual shots of each rifle, outside lighting is best. You got one heck of a start on a nice collection

Right on about the lammy stock. I used to not like them (when they were always available) now I want one pretty bad. I missed out on a lammy and a hex when the craziness started just before christmas :vsad:

Nothing measly about that fine foursome!!

It would appear that you are hooked, good and proper. Collecting Mosin rifles is a bottomless pit, as there are so many variations, especially when the Finns walk on the stage. I have some wonderful combinations, mostly Finn.

You can almost buy these rifles blindfolded and be happy with what you get!

Look for the stampings on these rifles, as they can tell quite a story. For example, I have one with "B", "W", "D", SA stamped on the barrel or receiver. Originally made in Russia, Belgian barrel, been in Vienna (W), Finn (SA), and so on.

Have fun!! :)
