Fellow Forum member entropy & I will be heading there today along with a few other Gun-shopping stops. I'll let you all know if they are in stock.

If you don't have a T-53, buy one now, or kick yourself later.

Entropy & I were up there today & they had seven of them. All pretty rough, whiteish goo on the stocks & no cleaning rods. I might wait to see if they go on sale Sunday.

J & G still list #53 129.00. Was it just a heavy white haze ?

" beat up" No, this is the look of an issued weapon that has not been refurbished, this was the typical condition of most milsurps before the Soviets went and cleaned everything up with their old rifles. This is actually what a milsurp is supposed to look like.

What about shipping? And what about their callon condition versus nhaving it in your hand and hand picking from 7 on hand? Things aren't always as good as an online buy seems. Sometimes you are lucky and somethimes not but either way you now own it! Bill

I figured for under a hundred bucks I would take a chance and bought many grab bag Mosins from the big dealers, they were nothing special but none were bad, one even had a DDR stamp that back then the dealers didn't know about yet.

And add $20 shipping & your back to the same gig. The bonus with these are you can handpick, look at the bore & even test headspace before you buy. I have a feeling they will go on-sale this Sunday... If they do I might get one.

It was a white haze on the buttstock area, the whole stock felt kinda like slimy week old sweaty **** S@ck. Kinda had a weird smell to it to. There was one that didn't have it at all. A 56 date, #'s matching bolt & a rat chewed, driftwood stock. I liked that one a lot but couldn't bring myself to pay $119 for it. I'll check the paper to see if my hunch is right about them going on sale.

I keep hearing that the white haze and smell on this batch of t53 is from a botched cleaning attempt in the states after import. Anyone know anything about that?
