Can you help me identify this?

Post by ShotINtheDARK »

I am helping an older man put firewood in his home. He wants to pay me. I insist no. But he insists I take something and gives me this rifle. My search concludes it's a mossin Nagant. But other than that, I'm nor sure. It looks odd.

Can you help me? Thank you

We'll need to see pictures.

That is a Sestroryetsk. Very desirable. Unfortunately the stock was chopped, but fortunately the barrel doesn't look to have been chopped. It might take a while to find them, but I would start the search for a replacement stock and handguard. They might be a bit pricey, but with the rifle being free, worth it.
The SA in the box means the Finns had it after the Russians.

Thank you very much. What would it be worth as is? If I found a stock, what would worth be then? Woud the stock need to be an 1899 or could it be any compatible m91 stock?

Appreciated!

Any M91 stock should work. I don't know what current prices are. Someone is bound to come along with a better idea of value.

Thanks again, apparently finding a stock is super rare.. I think I'll just sell as is. I'll look for a stock first though...
