1942r Mosin Sniper Reciever Help

Post by PapaGunz »

Hello, I am interested in purchasing this Mosin Sniper on GB and it checks out completely except for one item, The Scope Mount where the male ball sits, is squared, and in all my research, I only see this piece rounded. Is this a cheap and fake mount?
The rest of the rifle looks legit but, please help me determine if it is. This is not the same rifle I initially posted, which turned out to be a repro, this is a potential legit sniper and I do not want to be fooled twice! so please help me.

Also, AT Serial is not on the list for 1942 but perhaps this is a new serial number for the books? That shank serial does say 1942 right? It almost looks like 1943 but the C mark is left side shank as it would be for a 42 so. IDK, Thoughts on that?

Hard to tell with so little photos.

Looks like a "fake" mount.

The rifle was a sniper at one time (see scope numbers on left side) but, without more photos, who knows.
You don't show the bolt. Is it straight or bent?

I'd pass on it.

What is the import mark?
Where is the scope? and mount?

Could be Darryl, but there is something about the lined out scope number look and font the just doesn't sit well with me. Need to pull my 42 and see if it is the same font.

Yes, that "sits wrong" with me too.

Soon as I saw the mount, it's out the door for me! :chuckles:
