Re: One of my couple inherited
Marlin always made a nice lever rifle, I have several in .35 rem, and 45/70, that would be the model 336, and 1895, all vintage NY built rifles before the Remington takeover. Remington screwed up the builds there for a while because they fired all the Marlin workers and hauled the old machinery from the Marlin factory off to their own plant. Problem was the Remington workers didn't know how to nurse the elderly Marlin tooling along and significant quality issues started to crop up. Remington made good on the problems, but it was irritating for owners. Now Rugar is bringing the Marlin rifles back, and I hear good things so far. Nice .44
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
