Question regarding PU windage adjustment

I once got burned on a reproduction Ukrainian PU, and was doing a little research lately when I read somewhere that the original PU scopes had windage knobs that would click in place every mil of adjustment like a modern scope. I have not been able to find any verification of this one way or another. Is this true, or was it simply a friction knob like the Ukrainian copies?
