BRIDGE .410
I trolled this one a couple weeks ago. The firing pin was sticking out keeping it from closing every time. Easy fix. Made for a big hardware store in St. Louis, until 1930., by Crescent arms. Several barrel makers. The 12 mm choke is tighter than the .410 Stevens I've got by a good bit. Elmer Fudd would be proud. I'll give a pattern report.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Re: BRIDGE .410
So can anybody tell me how 12 mm, (.50 cal.) makes a tight choke on a .410 .(45 cal. ) . ?

Re: BRIDGE .410
Yea Man . What ? Killer idea ? The 12 mm must be O.D. at the muzzle, a 12 mm wrench will almost slide on. It shot about a 2' spread @ 25 yd. with Remington high brass 3" #6, some cheap lo brass #6 the same. I want to get some bb loads and try in it.

Re: BRIDGE .410
Sounds like its choked about Modified, maybe Light Mod.. Miking the muzzle should net you about .390-.395, if the bore is truly .410. Nice little knocking around the woods gun!

Re: BRIDGE .410
I borrowed an old choke gauge that gauges the Stevens right on the .410 mark (full), the Bridge is a little tighter. Extra full ?

Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

Re: BRIDGE .410
What is the constriction? A bore gauge measures constriction by measuring far enough down the barrel to get the actual "cylinder bore" size, and at the muzzle, and the constriction is the difference.
Here is a chart that shows what I am talking about:
https://www.royalarms.com/wp-content/up ... e-size.pdf
This is a bore gauge:
https://www.trapshooters.com/threads/di ... ed.884971/
So per this chart, your Stevens is Cylinder bore. (hence the name of the cartridge, '.410 bore' )
For instance, My Ljutic Trap gun is backbored to .740, and the dia. at the muzzle is .705, meaning it has a constriction of .035, or full choke.
To measure true constriction you would have to use the device I mentioned. Some call other instruments a bore gauge that aren't, like a micrometer, or a 'wedge', or dime.
Assuming the true bore diameter is .410, per the chart, to be a full choke, the muzzle would have to measure .395. I was a little off on my guess, but I rarely deal with .410's, usually 12 ga.
