This is one that has eluded me for years. I always wanted a Uberti Walker, but seemed to put it on the back burner every time I bought something. So I finally took the plunge. To be honest it's all I can to to hold it up after having shoulder surgery, so maybe I'll have to shoot it with 2 hands, but shoot it I fully intend to do. This dwarfs my Ruger Old Army.

Shoulder surgery or not, you shoot a Colt Walker with two hands, that's 4 1/2 pounds of steel unloaded with maximum velocity's in the .41 Magnum range. This is a horse pistol despite that crap on lonesome Dove with the characters strutting around with these things in belt holsters. Unless of course you like involuntarily dropping trow on the range despite belt and suspenders. Nice addition to the collection.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

That cracked me up Jim. Dropping trow on the range not in the plans!

"Why don't you just drop them der pants"
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

After watching several videos it looks like 40 grains of fffg will be about as accurate and good to shoot as anything heavier would be.
Re: Uberti 1847 Colt Walker
I used to have a Ruger Old Army, and wish I had not parted with it. I used 40 grains of FFFg in that pistol with a .457 ball. I would imagine the Walker has more capacity in each cylinder, so maybe fill in with some cornmeal over the powder then seat the ball. Have fun with it; should be a real blast.
