New AR bayonet
New AR bayonet
I got a new AR bayonet to replace one I traded off. It is in pretty decent shape. Does any one know what the written numbers on the scabbard might mean?

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Troop F 2nd Squadron, 107th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade 28th Infantry division. They live in Chucks end of the woods these days.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Re: New AR bayonet
Got mine Millman and it's like new. Only problem is the ring doesn't fit on the flash hider as it should. Guess it's time to build a new rifle so that bayonet doesn't go to waist.
Re: New AR bayonet
I looked at that picture that I posted on that other thread where we were talking about this. It seems that for the bayo to fit right on a 16 inch carbine barrel, one has to use a mid length gas system instead of the carbine length gas system.

Re: New AR bayonet
yep, mine fit or I'll say didn't fit just like the one you pictured. I really don't know much about these rifles or how to go about changing things around. I might put something together later with a little help. Thanks !millman wrote:I looked at that picture that I posted on that other thread where we were talking about this. Re: New AR bayonet
I did a lot of searching on mine when I bought it.some places only told that they were made in the early 60's but I found some bayonet page that told more about it .they got the contract in 1968 and only issued them for on year 1969.do not rember where it was but I wrote it down at the time to go with mine. it seems like if I do not I have a hard time finding something again. mine has the correct scabbard for it also marked TWB also made in 69.alot of info out there but you have to do a lot of searching sometimes
